about
I was born in a small town, and I live in a small town.
This blog is my way of documenting my many adventures in fatherhood so that, one day, I will have a written record to show my grown children everything I went through for them, and to remind them that they are forever in my debt.
And, oh yeah…to show them how much I love them.
My first book, Cageball, Poker, and the Atomic Wedgie (2003) received raved reviews from some of my family members and a couple other people I know. Recently I revised it, and you can now download the PDF ebook.
I also like writing about local history. I’ve written a history of my church called The History of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish; a narrative history of my father’s hometown, called Bridgewater: A Narrative History of a Pennsylvania River Town; and I’ve even written a history on a local train bridge (yes, a train bridge), which you can pick up at the Beaver Area Heritage Foundation museum, if you’re interested.
Didn’t think so.
I also do marketing writing, ghostwriting, editing and commercial copywriting. (View my LinkedIn profile here.)
I’d love to hear from you. Please email me at valbrkich@gmail.com, or snail mail me at:

hi.
Brian told me of you. sorry I didn’t get to meet you. (I was ill and skipped the program I’d organized) flattered you came to Hudson to see Tony. He’s a great guy-that’s why I bugged him to come to Hudson and see the Brown collection we have here. hope you enjoyed his program and the library.

Hey Val!
Good to hear from you… thanks for the props on my food blog. It’s just a fun thing since I tend to forget all the wonderful stuff I cook pretty much right after it’s eaten. Looks like you are really cranking out the writing… congrats on all the success. I, for one, would be very interested in reading the one about the local train bridge. I have my very own anecdote about it.

Hello, Valentine. I confused you with your father when I emailed some friends, referencing your website. But, I am sure that some of them will be visiting your website as a result. I have been visiting it for occasional visits, and enjoying it. An error in identity has led to a “plug” for your work. Keep it up!

Hi Val. I’m new to your blog and although my days of toddler escapades are a decade past, I enjoy your writing. It helps that I am also a small town history buff and currently reside in Bridgewater (across from your dad’s old elementary school). I dabble in photography and my small community is one of my favorite subjects. The new park is a hotspot where I’m often found snapping shots. Are there copies of your Bridgewater book available locally? Thanks.
